Project Description
When we first started this project I was going to do a totally random and weird video. I then learned about the different and out of the box everyone else was doing so I decided to hop onto the bandwagon as well. My first partner and I were having difficulties with communication and we went to Roxy to ask for help. Once we were done talking with Roxy we both agreed that working together was not going to produce beautiful work. I really think that communication with your teacher during this project is very beneficial. It does not have to be about a problem it can be about anything and your teacher will listen and try to help you. I also found that getting peer critique is helpful because it will make your video appear to your audience and getting a different perspective on the work you have is good. |
Artist statementMy Self Portrait is important to me because I used a “fun” picture that one of my friends took. The “face” of my self portrait is a skeleton skull with a native american headdress. I thought that this would benefit me because as a native american my ancestors faced a lot of genocide. I found the headdress to be significant to me because it shows that throughout all of what my ancestors have been through we have always been able to keep our culture close to ourselves.Only the most brave and powerful of the tribe wore headdresses. My background is important to me because there is a quote by Brandt Paul that is “ Don’t tell me the sky's the limit, when there are footprints on the moon”. I really find this quote inspiring because it gives me a boost of confidence to always strive for the stars and dream big.
